THE DEALMAKER: An avid fly-fisherman, Harry (Skip) Brittenham has long enjoyed perhaps the biggest catch of any dealmaker in Hollywood, repping key talent (Harrison Ford, Eddie Murphy), filmmakers (Ridley and Tony Scott), agents (Jim Wiatt) and studio toppers (Jim Gianopulos, Tom Rothman). His presence is so ubiquitous that Ford recently noted it’s not surprising for Brittenham to enter a negotiation in which he represents everybody in the room in some capacity.
In terms of fish, Brittenham goes after the biggest, brokering corporate and international finance deals that amount to billions of dollars. Notable was his representation of Pixar during its acquisition by Disney several years ago, and his work for DreamWorks as it spun off its animation division and sold its live-action unit to Paramount.

Press shy, he routinely rejects interview requests, including one for this profile. Brittenham has established such a pre-eminent reputation that he’s now often compared to the godfather of all Hollywood dealmakers. “If there’s a new Lew Wasserman in Hollywood, I think it’s Skip,” client Harvey Weinstein told the legal journal Law Fuel. “All roads lead to Skip,” added Sony Pictures topper Amy Pascal.
KEY DEALS: Brittenham’s work on behalf of DreamWorks continues. In August, he finalized a $550 million investment from India’s Reliance Entertainment in the studio, as the latter now works to extricate itself from Par and relaunch. Other recent activity includes the handling of worldwide sales on “Amelia,” the female aviator biopic being financed by Ted Wiatt and starring Hilary Swank.
